Welcome to the Swap

Hello,
I want to welcome everyone to the swap! By now you should have gotten your matches & hopefully your invite to contribute to this blog. Remember this is a 'Round Robin' type swap, so you never know when Norm or his bud will be by to visit you. I recommend starting to get things together for your partner early because once he gets to you you'll only have a few days to give him a tour of your town & send him on to his next stop.

Norm & his yet unnamed friend (more on that below) are getting packed and ready to be sent off. I plan on sending them on their way this weekend, so be on the lookout!

Contest Number 1:
So, I apparently used up all my Gnome naming skills coming up with Norm. His friend needs a name, so I need your help.
To enter leave a comment with your suggestion for a good gnome name. I'll pick my favorite & the winner will get a set of handmade stitch markers.

Good Luck~

How about a name that's the antithesis of Norm? Say, "Unusual"?

I kind of like Newman (Gnuman maybe?). What do you all think?

It's gotta be "Cliff"!!!

If Norm's "pal" is female.. it should be Norma... But if his pal is male... I like Gnuman (as knittymuggins suggested!)

I'm happy to have my Swap Pal.. Can't wait to get this started and see all the fun pics!

I like Cliff (from Cheers) or Carla if it is a girl (are there girl Gnomes?)

How about Noland? It's Gaelic, meaning chariot fighter, but I think it's especially telling since the gnomes will be traveling and will have "No Land" to call their own.

I can see why people are saying Cliff but for some reason I just keep thinking Harold. Just my .02 :o) I can't wait to get this started! I'm so excited about my swap pal!! It's going to be so much fun. Thanks again for setting this up!

Can't wait to get started! Btw, the link to my blog is broken - I think its because it requires the www in front of it. :/

My name suggestion:
1) Roam (as in the "roaming gnome")
2) Gnomie (what else?)
3) Wooly One (after all, this is a knitting/yarn swap??)

I second "Noland"!

How about Myron? Turn Norm backwards and add a "y" and you have Myron.

If said buddy is female - perhaps Naomi. Otherwise, I like Marsha's suggestion of Unusual. Or maybe Not The (not the Norm - okay probably only funny to me.)

I think I like "Al" as a name.. then when you put them together you'd get "NormAl" (okay, yes, yes, I'm a dweeb.. but it's the first one that came to mind).

How about Gnitty Gnome? I am excited about our impending "house guest"!

I think this might be the nest idea Ive ever seen for a round robin swap. Gnomes and fiber...two of my favorite things!! *is slightly green with envy*
